Who can join the library?
Current staff and students of Alfred Health, Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, Burnet Institute, and Monash & La Trobe university departments based at an Alfred Health site
How do I join the library?
Bring your ID Badge to either library and fill in the Registration Form to obtain a barcode & PIN
How many items can I borrow and for how long?
Up to 10 items: 4 weeks
Exceptions: 2 and 7 day loans, reserve, reference, periodicals
Can I pickup/return items to either site?
Yes - use Catalogue to select pickup location
Return to either the Alfred or Caulfield
How do I reserve items?
Use your barcode & PIN to reserve items online via the catalogue
You will receive an email when the reserved item is available for pickup
How do I renew my loans?
Use your barcode & PIN to renew loans online via My Library Login
You will receive a reminder email 2 days prior to the item due date
Electronic and offsite access
How do I access resources when offsite?
Register for an OpenAthens login when you are onsite
You can use either a work or private email address
Your OpenAthens activation link will be emailed to you; confirm this onsite and create a password
To access resources when offsite go to OpenAthens and insert your username and password
How do I reset my OpenAthens password?
You can reset your password here
How do I set up a list of my favourite journals?
Email your preferred username and password with a request to set up a Favourites List to email@example.com
You will be notified when this is activated
To access your list click on Favourites in the Journals List and enter your password
How do I access ebooks?
There are two choices of links in the catalogue for onsite and offsite access under the Electronic Access banner:
"Click here to access full text online" (for onsite)
"Click here to access full text online using Athens login" (for offsite)
Works with computers and smart devices
Special eReader devices are not required
