New UK Research & Innovation Open Access Policy
On August 2021, the UK Research & Innovation organisation released a new open access policy.
- The new policy will require immediate open access for UKRI-funded journal articles submitted for publication on or after 1 April 2022.
- For funded monographs, open access via a publisher’s website, platform or repository, within a maximum of 12 months of publication, after 1 January 2024.
Australian NHMRC proposed revisions to its Open Access Policy
The NHMRC asked for consultation on proposed revisions to its Open Access Policy in April 2021.
The proposed changes to the Open Access policy would affect NHMRC-funded journals articles. The proposed changes include:
- Publications and publication metadata to be made openly accessible immediately upon publication without any embargo period.
- Authors to retain rights to publications through open licensing of Author Accepted Manuscripts or Version of Record.
