Temporary Library Closure - Innovation & Education Hub Redevelopment

Between the 21st February and the 3rd July 2020, the Ian Potter Library will be CLOSED while the Alfred Innovation & Education Hub is being built. Further information on the new library can be found here. The redeveloped Ian Potter library will reopen on the 6th July 2020. How can I contact the library staff?

What is the best way to find library information?
The Library Website www.alfredlibrary.org is the best starting point for finding information about specific library services, and links for searching information resources.

 

Where can I find a quiet study place?
A study room will be available for medical staff in the Hugh Trumble room. Medical students will have a study room on the 5th floor Alfred Centre.  Other options are Prahran Public library (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm), State Library of Victoria, RMIT Swanston St library and University of Melbourne libraries.

Will training classes still be available?
Yes, classes will still be provided, but in other locations.  Monthly schedules will continue to be provided.

Will I be able to borrow books?
Physical items of the library have been boxed up and unfortunately are now unavailable for borrowing until July 2020.  Ebooks are available online via our catalogue, and will be the main way to access book information until the new library opens in July 2020.

Can I pickup or return items from Monash & La Trobe university?
No, intercampus loans will not be available at the Alfred campus between 17/2/2020 - 3/7/2020. Please use another campus library as a pickup or return point during this period.
